Are You a Candidate for Mental Golf Coaching?

Many things about golf keep us coming back.  For the majority of players, it’s simply the fun of the game.  For others, it may be a chance to be outdoors, get away from work or home, get a little exercise, win bragging rights or a few dollars, socialize, or hit some incredible shots.

About 10% of golfers become preoccupied with how to get better at the game.    If you’re in this group, you are a candidate for  mental golf coaching.

Along with whatever work you do to improve your swing,  you can accelerate progress with mental coaching by addressing issues such as:

·      Control of distracting negative thoughts and emotions

·      Managing anxiety, especially when in pressure situations and matches.

·      Making better decisions by managing your mindset and reigning in your ego

·      Reducing sources of those  “blow-up” holes that result in double-bogey or worse.

No matter what type of swing you have, it’s mental factors that often account for bad swings, bad decisions and inconsistency.  Working on mechanics alone is not enough.  At every level, there is a need to balance swing instruction and practice sessions with attention to mental issues.

High handicap golfers should not assume that mental golf input cannot help them.  Mid handicap golfers may finally figure out how to get off the bogey train.  Low handicap golfers already know that it is often mental factors that separate the winners.  And by the way, a majority of high-ranking amateurs and professionals regularly use a sports psychologist.

The mental work that lowers scores also turns out be of tremendous value in everyday life.  Golf can become a transformative experience which leads to enhanced enjoyment, engagement, and personal growth on and off the course.
